What is it you do?
“Euphrasie Mbamba, the founder of the Sigoji brand, was born on cocoa plantations in Cameroon. She lived with her grandfather until the age of 17, before coming to Belgium to pursue her studies.
After her grandfather’s death, she decided to take over the family plantation and launch the Sigoji chocolate factory.
Sigoji is all about a passion for cocoa. A 100% committed approach. Sigoji showcases cocoa beans sourced from African cooperatives, grown and harvested with respect for women, men and the environment.
An ethical approach in pursuit of a unique taste.
Production of chocolate from cocoa beans, as well as pralines, chocolate bars, chocolate treats and spreads.”
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
“To introduce our beautiful region to as many people as possible, to showcase the richness of our region, to build a strong connection between the local heritage and local producers, and to become as well integrated as possible into this area.”
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
“Waste sorting and composting of all organic waste.
Renewable energy: solar panels and rainwater harvesting.
Recycled and recyclable packaging.
Planting of an orchard.
A project to fence off the land in order to keep sheep, which will naturally maintain the green spaces.”
