What is it you do?
‘Since 2020, we have been rearing ewes to graze the Belvaux and Resteigne nature reserves. The adventure began with a flock of 100 ewes; today there are 150, some of which are Belgian dairy ewes that supply us with quality milk.
This milk is processed directly on the farm into yoghurts and artisan cheeses, which you can come and taste on site.
Our farm shop is open
- Fridays from 3pm to 7pm
- Saturdays from 9am to 1pm
As well as raising livestock, we also grow seasonal vegetables. This enables us to offer you a range of home-made preserves, as well as our fresh vegetables for direct sale during the summer.’
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
‘We love our region and it's very important for us to showcase its riches.
Being a partner of the Geopark is a great opportunity to raise awareness of sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation. ’
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
‘Our ewes graze in nature reserves, in particular Natura 2000 plots, and we practise late mowing to preserve biodiversity. We breed Belgian dairy ewes, adapted to our region, which reduces the environmental impact.
We are certified organic, which guarantees that our products meet strict quality and ecological standards. The milk is processed directly on the farm into yoghurts and cheeses, limiting travel and the carbon footprint.
We also grow vegetables and offer preserves, while selling our surplus during the summer to avoid wastage.
By favouring direct sales from the farm, we reduce packaging and encourage a short supply chain, which is more respectful of the environment’.
