What is it you do?
"Our house features five guest rooms. It was once the village forge, used by the blacksmith and also serving as a stable. Today, this place has been given a new lease of life. In the main room, now our dining room, you can still admire the fireplace hearth with its still-working bellows, as well as various original blacksmith’s tools: a hoof compass, anvil, forge tongs, and the horse shoeing stand.
It is in this charming and authentic atmosphere that we serve breakfast.
Fully renovated with the expertise of local craftsmen, our house has been designed to offer a timeless experience, combining the character of the past with modern comfort.
It is located in the heart of the beautiful Famenne-Ardenne region, recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
Our priority is to offer each visitor a unique experience, marked by authenticity and genuine connection.
Upon request, guests can enjoy access to a Nordic wellness area with an infrared sauna, a wood-fired hot tub, and an outdoor shower.
A large games room with billiards, table tennis, table football, darts, a bar, TV lounge, and reading corner allows you to make the most of even the gloomiest days."
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
"Having lived in the region for nearly 30 years and being passionate about outdoor activities (mountain biking, hiking, trail running, packrafting), we are eager to help you discover this unique area known as the Calestienne, located in the heart of the Famenne-Ardenne Geopark.
Being a Geopark partner also gives us the opportunity to rely on an experienced network and framework, enabling us to provide our guests with even better advice and guidance."
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
"Convinced that the future of our planet depends on reducing the consumption of the natural resources available to us, we strive, on our own scale, to limit our material needs, promote short supply chains, and encourage sustainable mobility (cycling).
In practical terms, this means a house equipped with photovoltaic solar panels, a thermodynamic water heater, several wood and pellet stoves, and particular attention to waste sorting (and above all waste reduction) as well as composting.
By staying with us, you will discover the artisans and producers of our region and support small local businesses.
Over the course of a breakfast prepared with seasonal products (homemade jams made from fruit from our garden: rhubarb, cherries, blackberries, apples), with care products made by a regional adapted-work enterprise, or during a tasting of well-known local beers, you will discover the flavors, talents, and faces of our local producers."
