What is it you do?
“We are a dairy farm with a herd of Jersey cows, and we make various cheeses and yogurt from the milk. We also breed Ardennesand Mergelland ewes to graze the chalk grasslands of the Lesse and the Lomme. In addition to the cheese-making, we also produce small quantities of veal, lamb and pork.”
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
“Our farming activities are largely dictated by our principal resource: the land. Our livestock and our products are a reflection of the region. We also help to maintain and develop the limestone landscapes opened up by grazing.”
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
“We have been farming organically since 2003. We have signed up to a far-reaching programme of agro-environmental measures and we generate part of our energy requirements from renewable resources.”
