What is it you do?
“Alpagas d’Ave is an alpaca farm with around 75 alpacas, located in Ave-et-Auffe (Rochefort). The activity includes breeding the animals and making use of their fibre by transforming it into yarn and clothing.
The farm offers visits by appointment and also has a shop open by appointment, where products from the farm are available.”
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
“Becoming a partner of the Famenne-Ardenne Geopark allows us to showcase our local activity, our alpaca farm and products that are partly made from our own production.
In this way, we wish to contribute to promoting our region, local know-how and the local economy.”
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
“We raise our alpacas and make use of their fibre by transforming it into yarn and clothing.
Our alpacas are mainly fed grass. The processing of the fibre, from yarn production to the manufacture of clothing, is carried out in Wallonia by local craftspeople.
Direct sales in our shop also help promote local production and short supply chains.”
