What is it you do?
‘The Hôtel La Malle Poste, located in Rochefort (Belgium), is a top-of-the-range, three-star establishment offering holidays focused on relaxation, comfort and reconnecting with nature.
We welcome guests in search of calm, well-being and rejuvenation, in a privileged setting in the heart of the Ardennes forests and close to many of the region's natural and cultural attractions.’
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
‘We are deeply aware of man's impact on the environment, and our business is part of a sustainable approach that respects the region.
By becoming a Geopark partner, we want to :
-Play an active part in preserving our natural heritage,
-Promote the riches of our region to our visitors,
-Attract a clientele that is sensitive to ecological issues and committed to responsible tourism’.
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
‘Local sourcing and short supply chains: all the products on offer at breakfast come from our own butcher's shop and farm, or from carefully selected local producers.
-Energy investment: we have launched the installation of a photovoltaic farm, which will enable us to cover a significant proportion of our energy consumption in the medium term.
-Responsible management: we are implementing concrete actions to reduce waste, sort waste and raise awareness of eco-actions among our customers.
Eco-responsible products and practices: we favour environmentally-friendly cleaning products and work with suppliers who are in line with our values’.
