What is it you do?
"The Château d'Hassonville is a chateau-hotel that stands in its own private grounds overlooking the village of Aye. The hotel rooms are decorated in different styles, all offering the highest standards of comfort. The hotel restaurant, Le Grand Pavillon, enjoys an enviable reputation for fine dining, thanks to the refined cuisine crafted by chef Arnaud Delvenne and his team, accompanied by any of a selection of great wines from our cellar."
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
"We bought the chateau in 1987, 33 years ago, with the aim of preserving this wonderful piece of architectural heritage and its 55ha (136 acre) grounds. I believe the Geopark is part of the same dynamic, and we fully support the project."
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
"Obviously, we are scrupulous about sorting waste, in both the hotel and the restaurant. We have had work done in the chateau to save energy, on both the lighting (switching to LED) and insulation. And most of our staffare local to the region."
