What is it you do?
"La Maison Honorine is a Bed & Breakfast in Heyd, a picturesque little village in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes, near Durbuy. We pride ourselves on offering a personalised welcome to our guests. Facilities include aprofessional-standard infrared sauna that guests can use. Every morning, we serve a delicious high-energy breakfast focusing on organic and home-made produce, including bread, muesli, granola, a choice of jams, chocolate spread and fresh fruit, for a great start to the day."
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
«The Geopark meshes perfectly with our approach to what we do. Our aim is to promote a quality service whilst sharing our values of sustainability and eco-friendliness with our guests and introducing them to local and craft products."
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
"We use organic products wherever possible. We stock a wide range of organic beers and wines. Quality is always our top priority. Even our bathroom toiletries, such as the soap, shampoo and shower gel, are all certified organic. We use only top-quality FSC-certified kitchen and toilet rolls. The house has been fully renovated wherever possible and insulated to the highest standard, while retaining the authentic elements of the building. All the plumbing is new, with water flow regulated to ecological standards. Almost all the lighting uses LED bulbs."
