What is it you do?
‘Through a range of activities, we invite you to experience nature with all your senses, to immerse yourself in it, to better understand it and to love it in order to better protect it. Our aim is to raise awareness among children and adults of the richness of nature and the environment. For children: We organise Nature courses during school holidays to discover nature through games and exploration, and Nature Clubs on Saturdays (regular meetings to develop practical skills and a respect for the environment).
For adults: We offer guided walks to explore and understand local biodiversity; well-being hikes to enjoy natural landscapes and promote well-being; forest baths: outdoor meditation to reconnect with yourself and nature.
For schools: Training for teachers (support to develop outdoor education) and nature lessons (nature discovery lessons for children).
In 2025: Our ‘Not just Earth’ project The aim is to raise awareness of the value of subsoil and soil, their vital ecological functions, their fragility and the urgent need to use them in a healthy and sustainable way. ’
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
‘We share the objective of promoting and preserving our natural heritage. The partnership would raise the profile of the association with a wider audience, whether tourists, local residents or potential partners; it could also offer us opportunities to collaborate and learn from other partners. It consolidates our actions and makes them part of an internationally recognised approach. ’
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
‘Although small in size, our association aims to act ethically, sustainably and eco-responsibly: the events, themed walks and projects we run promote knowledge and environmentally-friendly behaviour within the local community.
We maximise the use of sustainable methods and materials in our activities.
Our projects (hedge planting, soil conservation, etc.) promote sustainable environmental management.
We operate by rationalising our energy needs and limiting our consumption (lighting, printing, etc.).
