What do you do?
"I organise introductory days and courses in the great outdoors for schoolchildren, groups and families. My aim is to teach them how to get by in nature with a minimum of equipment, while focusing on understanding, preserving and respecting the environment. I guide participants to discover the flora and fauna of our region, and to prepare a few recipes using the resources that nature has to offer. My aim is to teach them to understand nature and interpret the signs it sends us. Open by reservation all year round."
What motivated you to become a Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark?
"For many years, I've had a passion for survival in the great outdoors. As a guide, I accompany people in their discovery of the fragility of our environment, stressing the importance of respecting natural rules. I'm a fervent advocate of eco-tourism in Marche-en-Famenne and take great pleasure in helping people discover our 'green lung', the Fond des Vaulx, of which I'm a member.
The Geopark project represents a valuable opportunity to highlight the treasures of our local heritage, not only for local residents but also for tourists. It's also an opportunity to raise the profile of other important players in our region, such as local producers and owners of self-catering cottages."
Are you committed to sustainable development and eco-responsible practices?
"Every year, I take an active part in the clean-up days organised by our commune, with a particular focus on the Fond des Vaulx site. During bivouacs, I take the initiative to promote the products of our local producers. As an active member, I also help to protect the environment of the Fond des Vaulx site."
