What is it you do?
‘The Parc des Topiaires, on the banks of the Ourthe and with an exceptional view of Durbuy Castle, boasts a collection unique in Europe of 250 different shapes carved from boxwood, including crocodiles, birds, a ’Manneken Pis", a mermaid, an elephant, etc. Some of the plants are over 120 years old, and it took almost 20 years of artistic pruning, ingeniously executed by enthusiasts, to create these veritable works of art. The park also boasts the most beautiful terrace in Durbuy, with a breathtaking view of the smallest town in the world."
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
"Becoming a partner of the Famenne-Ardenne Unesco Global Geopark would be a great opportunity for npus to showcase our highly original and exceptional heritage. It would also be an opportunity to play a part in preserving our town and our region, and to showcase all their riches."
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
"We are committed to sustainable development, including promoting soft mobility through the “Bienvenue Vélo” label. Of course, we sort our waste and have compost for our plants. What's more, we only use organic fertilisers to maintain our plants."
