New vision area inaugurated in 2017, built under a high voltage line by a LIFE project.
The Font des Sabotis Vision Area inaugurated in May 2017 is located in Nassogne along the Rue de Lahaut (N889) at the Font des Sabotis. This brand new vision area is part of the communication actions of the LIFE Elia-RTE (X) project, which carries out a number of developments under high-voltage lines. The main objective of the project is to transform the forest rights-of-way of high-voltage lines into ecological corridors in Belgium and France.
From this viewing area, it is now possible to observe the wildlife in complete discretion. The structure was built from sustainable materials, in this case local wood. In order to ensure a good integration into the landscape, the structure was made of round wood. A car park and access for people with reduced mobility was also provided.
(x) The LIFE Elia-TEN project is co-financed by
- the European Union (LIFE Programme),
- Elia (Belgium's electricity transmission system operator),
- RTE (French electricity transmission system operator),
- the Walloon Region.
