What is it you do?
"Le Comptoir Gourmand is a brasserie-restaurant on the market square, in the very centre of Marche-en-Famenne, and a recognised Bistrot de Terroir. We pride ourselves on the taste and quality of the food we prepare, served in a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere. Our menus offer a wide variety of different dishes using ingredients largely sourced from local craftspeople and producers.We give preference to short distribution channels and guarantee quality of service, price and product."
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
"We are keen to showcase local cuisine that combines quality with affordable prices. We believe the Geopark Famenne-Ardenne can bring real added value for the economic, tourist and cultural development of the region. We are also eager for advice on sustainable and eco-friendly practices in our business."
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
"In addition to the Bistrot de Terroir label, we are also 'Bikes Welcome' approved. We pay particular attention to managing our inventory to reduce food wastage to a minimum. All our staff are from the local community and live less than 10 kms from here."
