What is it you do?
"Urban gîte with 3 ears of corn, this studio is located just a stone's throw from the city center of Marche-en-Famenne. From the bedroom and the balcony, you’ll feel as though you’re immersed in nature.
You can also relax in the spacious living room.
The accommodation is a renovated 19th-century building, which still features its original limestone wall right in the middle of the living room.
The indoor temperature remains very pleasant, even during periods of high heat."
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
"As a Geography teacher, it was important to me that my small two-person gîte be part of a sustainable and community-oriented project such as the Geopark Famenne-Ardenne.
It is important to me to raise awareness — among young people, students, and ultimately everyone — of the importance of the environment around us, as well as the geological and touristic richness of our region."
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
"A very precise and educational waste-sorting system has been put in place to guide guests during their stay in the gîte.
All interior lighting is LED.
Our gîte is equipped with a water-saving and eco-friendly shower, which uses an air-and-water mixing system to reduce flow without compromising comfort.
The gîte also features a smart thermostat, allowing efficient and environmentally responsible temperature control.
We have provided several printed guides to help our guests discover the town of Marche, its artisans, shopkeepers, architecture, and local products."
