What is it you do?
‘The Asbl organises discovery walks in the Marches region, during which we take our customers on a tour of local produce, the local fauna and flora and the karstic phenomena of the Calestienne, etc. We already work with school classes. We run workshops on map reading, making a bivouac, raising awareness of the impact of walkers on the biodiversity around them, and so on. We also work in partnership with the Fond des Vaulx non-profit association for guided tours of the town and the Fond des Vaulx. Finally, we work on a made-to-measure basis and according to demand, for families who want to combine walking with education about the biodiversity of the area they are passing through."
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
‘I'm a hiking guide and mountain leader. I regularly organise educational walks at Fond des Vaulx. I'm also a member of Wallonie Belgique Tourisme's group of technical experts for tourist guides. I love sharing my passion for nature, hiking and local produce. I see the Geopark project as a great opportunity to promote, develop and protect the area's natural resources."
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
‘The Asbl takes part in ‘clean commune’ days focusing on the Fond des Vaulx. And we only work with local producers to make our meals or lunch-packets.’
