What is your business?
“CapRando offers full-day hikes (around 20 km), nature walks and micro-adventures in the magnificent Lesse Valley, including bivouac rando-packraft trips and orienteering courses.
Our programme follows an annual schedule, but we also organise activities on request for groups, families or associations.
Every two weeks, a mini CapRando hike of about 10 km is offered on Wednesday afternoons, allowing everyone to get away and reconnect with nature, even if only for a few hours.
The hikes can be bilingual FR/NL.”
What motivated you to be awarded the "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark" label?
“Being from the region, I feel deeply attached to this land that I know like the back of my hand.
I never tire of exploring it, observing its landscapes, its wildlife, its flora, and the heritage that makes it so rich.
Becoming a partner of the Geopark is an obvious choice for me: a natural way to take part in a shared approach to promoting, passing on, and preserving this territory we love.
Sharing my emotions, revealing the beauty of the landscape from another angle, raising awareness of the fragility of our environment—
this is the heart of my commitment with CapRando.”
Are you committed to sustainable development and eco-responsible practices?
“Quite obviously, simply taking the time to explore the area on foot already makes a difference.
Carpooling to the starting point is always encouraged. When the lunch break is organised in an ‘auberge espagnole’ style, CapRando challenges participants to bring dishes that are ideally homemade or produced within a 15 km radius of their home.
The morning welcome coffee is ‘made in dignity’. The farewell drink at the end of the hike is shared in a local café or, if that’s not possible, we enjoy a local beer from the region we have crossed (for example, from the Brasserie de la Lesse).
At CapRando, we place great importance on cultivating kindness, conviviality, and respect for the natural environment.
Each outing is designed as an authentic encounter: a meeting with oneself, with others, and with an exceptional region.
We promote a gentle, responsible, and accessible approach for all, in a spirit of sharing and openness.”
